Why Your Landing Page Isn’t Converting (And How to Fix It)

You’ve got the traffic. You’ve got the offer. But the conversions? Still crickets.

Landing pages are meant to convert. That’s their one job. So if your page looks polished but still underperforms, it’s time for a bit of digital detective work.

Let’s break down why users bounce, and what you can do about it.

1. You’re Saying Too Much

Landing pages aren’t the place for War and Peace. They should be:

  • Focused
  • Frictionless
  • Action-driven

If your page is a wall of text or tries to do everything, it’s going to confuse people. And confused visitors don’t convert, they close tabs.

Fix it: Strip it back to one message, one goal, one CTA. Less is more (and it converts better).

2. Your Call to Action Is Weak (or Missing)

“Submit” is not a vibe. Your CTA should make it crystal clear what the user gets and why it matters.

Examples that convert:

  • “Book My Free Consultation”
  • “Get Instant Access”
  • “Show Me the Plans”

Fix it: Use benefit-led copy. Make the button pop. And repeat it throughout the page.

3. It Loads Like a Tortoise

Speed = trust. If your landing page takes longer than 2 seconds to load, expect visitors to bounce.

Fix it: Optimise your images (use .avif), ditch bloated scripts, and consider a static site setup (like the one we use 😉).

We wrote a whole post about this here: 👉 Why Your Website Feels Slow

4. It’s Not Designed for Mobile

Over 60% of traffic comes from mobile in the UK, and if your landing page isn’t finger-friendly, you’re losing leads before they even scroll.

Fix it: Design mobile-first. Test your CTAs with your thumb. Avoid tiny tap targets and squashed forms.

5. There’s No Trust Built In

People don’t give away emails (or money) without trust.

If your landing page is all flash and no credibility, it won’t convert. Fast.

Fix it:

  • Add testimonials or logos from clients
  • Mention guarantees or data privacy
  • Include a real human name, face, or contact method

Final Thoughts: It’s Not Just Pretty That Converts
